Sunshine Coast Stadium – our new shining Diamond

With recent news that we have attracted our first international music act, all eyes are on the newly updated Sunshine Coast Stadium. To be able to attract a world class talent like Neil Diamond is no easy feat and I have no doubt there were many, many months of hard work done by a lot of people to make that happen.

As our region grows it is vitally important to design, create and build public spaces that cater to our rapidly expanding population.

We are in desperate need of another entertainment centre and plans were unveiled earlier this year for the new entertainment/convention centre in the heart of the new CBD. This new facility will contain a 4,500 seat main auditorium, a 2,900 sqm flat-floor Exhibition Hall, a full commercial kitchen, satellite kitchens and 12-15 meeting rooms with capacities of the rooms ranging from 20-360 people and parking for 750 cars.

The need for greater options in the heart of the Sunshine Coast has been apparent for a long time and the upgrade to the Sunshine Coast Stadium is the first of many changes we will see as we position ourselves to be an attractive option for international artists and world class events.

Congratulations to everyone who had a hand in ensuring we were successful in securing Neil Diamond – its another milestone and major achievement for the Sunshine Coast.

Tickets for Neil Diamond’s 50th Anniversary Australian Tour go on sale to the general public at 2pm on Thursday, November 16. Head to http://premier.ticketek.com.au/ .
